Description
Constructed in 1685 this marble colonnade was built at the behest of Louis XIV also known as “the Sun King”. The area shown here is only a small piece of the expansive gardens surrounding his illustrious palace at Versailles. He was the longest ruling king in the history of France at 72 years and his world-renowned Choteau continues to be a model for architects of luxury. Despite being best known for his bourgeois portraits Boldini did a wonderful job bringing his twisting expressive brushwork to the study of architecture. The veins of the marble look dynamic and the leafy bas reliefs pop from the stone spandrels. Our hand painted reproduction brings timeless classicism regal romanticism and natural beauty to any space. Frame Description: Corinthian Gold Frame
